                                             Research Update (January 6, 2024)

Diligence Technologies Inc., West Tennessee

EVENTS FROM THE PAST MONTH:

Winter meeting season kicked off with a trip to Kansas City for the North Central Weed Science Society meeting.  We had a great time and caught up with some old friends in the process.  We got a short break for Christmas and things will get busy again in January.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

We have several meetings planned for this winter.  Let us know where you are going to be.  We would be glad to discuss plans for the coming year.

NAICC, Jan. 20-24, Monterey, CA

Conservation Systems Cotton & Rice Conference, Jan. 27-28, Memphis, TN

West TN Grain Conference, Feb. 6, Dyersburg, TN

Cotton Focus, Feb. 11, Jackson, TN

Midsouth Farm & Gin Show, Feb. 28-Mar. 1, Memphis, TN

CROPPING SEASONS:

Things are quiet in the field right now.  All our summer crops are harvested and reports finalized.  Winter wheat out of the ground but will likely not do much till we start fertilizing in February or March.

GREENHOUSE ACTIVITIES:

While things are quiet in the field, greenhouse trials are underway with additional trials being added on a regular basis.  A common question we get is what kind of trials we conduct in the greenhouse.  That is a difficult question to answer as it varies so much by year, and we seem to be adding new types of testing each season.  However, to give you some idea of the range of trials we work on, I have put together a list of at least some of the things we have worked with in the past.

WEATHER INFO:

Late fall and early winter were generally mild, but we have started to see reminders that there is a lot of winter left.  Low temperatures have started dropping into the 20’s at night and working in the greenhouse is starting to feel good.  However, we have yet to see any snow or ice.

We hope you all had a great break at Christmas and are looking to get started on the coming year.  We will have the greenhouse open for several more months, so there is plenty of time to get something going this winter.  We also look forward to discussing your plans for the 2025 cropping season.

Let us know what we can do to help.
