Research Update (January 2, 2018)

Research Update (January 2, 2018)

Diligence Technologies Inc., West Tennessee

EVENTS FROM THE PAST MONTH:
We had a great time at the NCWSS meeting in St. Louis in early December.  That meeting is always enjoyable since we see some of our friends that don't make it down south too often.

December is always special since it is the closest thing we really get to a break in the schedule.  The trial work is generally at the lowest level of the year and the whirlwind that we call meeting season is not at full force quite yet.  However, we are excited to launch into another year and look forward to what the coming season holds.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
Meeting season is here.  Look for us at the following events over the next couple of months:

Beltwide Cotton Conference (JAN 3-5, San Antonio)
Cotton & Rice Conference (JAN 10-12, Memphis)
NAICC (JAN 17-20, Tucson)
SWSS (JAN 22-24, Atlanta)
Grain Conference (FEB 1, Dyersburg)
TAPA (FEB 7, Jackson)
Cotton Focus (FEB 8, Jackson)
Gin Show (MAR 2-3, Memphis)

CROPPING SEASONS:
The ratings are finished on the fall trials and the winter wheat has been put to bed (sprayed and fertilized) for the winter.  Field work will likely be slow until late February when we start spraying burndown trials and begin spring fertilizer applications to the winter wheat trials.  We will be finishing up equipment maintenance and generally just getting ready for another year of research.

GREENHOUSE ACTIVITIES:

While things may be slow in field, it is prime time for greenhouse work.  Several trials are underway with more just getting started.

If you are considering some greenhouse work this winter, now is a great time to let us know while we still have a window to get it completed before things get busy in the spring.  We still have space available and will be glad to talk with you about any projects you are considering.

WEATHER INFO:
Winter (cold) weather has finally arrived in west Tennessee.  Temperatures were generally mild through the fall and even into early December.  However, late December brought colder weather and the heating system in the greenhouse is having to work a bit harder these days.  We are just grateful to have a warm place to hide as we count down the days till spring.

We hope you had a great Christmas season and look forward to working with you in the coming year.
Proverbs 27:23-24
Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds; for riches are not forever.
